These digital oil paintings are a huge undertaking, and require a lot of time to get just right. I have always seen great digital painters do their thing, and felt just a slight pang of jealousy at the skill it takes to produce such a thing.  I decided to give it a go using Photoshop, and my respect for the craft grew exponentially when I realized how much actually goes into these. It’s mind boggling when I think about the process start to finish. Needless to say, I was very happy with the outcome, and would love to do more of these for canvas prints of my own portrait work for clients. If you want one, let me know and we can set up a shoot, and talk canvas size.

I wanted to use an image that had an interesting range of colors, so I dug back through some of my old fashion photography for Jessica. Once I found this, I knew I had a great starting place. All in all, I had six versions (five of which turned out awful) and one that kept all the right colors and contrast from my original photo.
