A Digital Oil Self Portrait
I took this photo in the studio when I was testing out the remote shutter system I was setting up, and I always like it as a self portrait. Once I started playing around with the digital oil paintings, I decided to knock the dust of this one and give it a go. I wasn’t happy with the overall white balance from the original image, so when I painted over it, I used lighter shades to add a lot more white to the mix to offset all the dark from my beard, hair and suit.
Doing the work ended up being really fun in the end, and I even played around with some new brushes to get a different more textured look to the background as a contrast to the smooth brush pulls in the rest of the image.
